How could I have waited so long to post work from one of the most iconic gay photographers ever, Robert Mapplethorpe? There are so many images to choose from, both controversial and not. Here are just a few that caught my eye, including a self-portrait. As I said, there are so many I may have to revisit his work another time.

I have recently been in touch with someone from a site called Artsy. Artsy is like an online art gallery, only more. According to their site: Artsy features the world’s leading galleries, museum collections, foundations, artist estates, art fairs, and benefit auctions, all in one place. Our growing database of 350,000 images of art, architecture, and design by 50,000 artists spans historical, modern, and contemporary works, and includes the largest online database of contemporary art. Artsy is used by art lovers, museum-goers, patrons, collectors, students, and educators to discover, learn about, and collect art. Artsy's Robert Mapplethorpe page provides visitors with Mapplethorpe's bio, over 250 of his works, exclusive articles, and up-to-date Mapplethorpe exhibition listings. The page also includes related artists and categories, allowing viewers to discover art beyond their Mapplethorpe page.
