One of my many collections of candid shots I gather around the net is a collection of shots of soldiers sleeping. The fact of them being included on a gay blog is in no way meant to demean them for the job that they do. But these shots tell a very different story of the boys who quickly become men who serve in our armed forces. Despite the harrowing and dangerous job they do every day, these photos depict a real sense of vulnerability that lays just under the skin of these remarkable men. They are among my favorites. Even more than the military junk shots I collect. I've tried to the best of my ability to make sure I don't include any glorified porn shots. That WOULD demean the others.

BRANISLAV JANKIC / photographer

Here is a series of self-portraits by photographer/director/model Branislav Jankic. I have had these photos stashed for a while, but when I went looking for some info on the artist to post here with his work, I hit a wall. His web sites are "under extensive remodeling"and therefore are blank. They are in cyrillic, so one could assume  (and his name supports it) that he is from eastern Europe or Russia. Oh, and he is very handsome. There is an underlying violence to a few of the shots in the series that make it intriguing.

He is also a director, and has a video project created in collaboration with fashion golden-boy Nicola Formichetti for Mugler's menswear, that appeared on Xtube. The reason it was relegated to Xtube is that there are a few hardcore images that flash across the screen, but it is hardly pornography.

OK, so sometimes it seems as though I've been asleep forever as I discover these wonderful things that happened YEARS AGO and I'm just finding them. So it is with the Sultan's Elephant. This is what wikipedia has to say (I've edited it down):

The Sultan's Elephant was a show created by the Royal de Luxe theatre company, involving a huge moving mechanical elephant......The elephant was designed by François Delarozière.  It was made mostly of wood, and was operated by 22 'manipulateurs' using a mixture of hydraulics and motors. It weighed 50 tons, as much as seven African elephants......
The elephant no longer exists: Helen Marriage of Artichoke, the company that produced the London performance, said "Royal de Luxe were so fed up with being invited all over the world to perform The Sultan's Elephant, they just destroyed it."
A replica of the elephant was built in Nantes (France) in 2007, as part of the Machines of the Isle of Nantes permanent exhibition. It is 20 feet tall.

This is just WONDERFUL!!

DUDES AND THEIR CARS / candid shots

While cruising around the net looking for content to put here, I find many photos of a singular theme. One such theme is dudes and their cars. This is not fine art photography. Get over it! Just shows dudes like their junk and their cars and photographing their junk in their cars. And in some cases people sneak a peak and a shot. Check it out.
